Tips for Installing Hinges
When remounting a door with new hinges, use longer screws than the originals. This will allow the screws to cut into new wood for a tighter hold. Careful not to go through the door!
Brass hinges usually come with brass screws. For a heavy door, substitute steel screws for brass for more structural strength.
With a new installation, drill pilot holes prior to installing. If it's too difficult to initially tighten a screw, put a little bar soap on the screws' threads for more ease of installation.

It is best to use a rubber mallet or padded hammer to install hinge pins so that you do not mar them.
